Happy New Year 2017

See ‘Ya 2016

First, did 2016 even happen?  I think that was the fastest year of my life!  Parts of it went by WAY too fast.  Other parts, well, good riddance!  Let me take a moment to recap the year and look forward to the new.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The Ugly

Let’s start with the ugly…get that mess out and over with.  It’s like the trash (and recycling) I forgot to set out not once, but twice leading up to Christmas….there was so much that the first pickup after Christmas they didn’t take it all!!!!  I can’t make that up!  We were “that family” with trash on the roadside for a week!  Sorry!  It’s all gone now…it hung around WAY too long!  Unfortunately, the bulk of what made 2016 ugly is dragging over into 2017.  I can’t control that.  I am going to try and approach it with a little better attitude (I let it get the better of me a lot of 2016).  My goal is that the “trash” will all be wrapped up soon, kicked to the curb, and hauled to the dump forever……..lots of prayer for that one!  It is what it is.  I have to just make the most of it.

The Bad

There’s the bad and then there’s the “bad”.  The bad….the biggest and really only thing worth mentioning is that we’re a big blended family and still trying to work the out all the kinks.  It’s getting better and easier, but we’ve sure had our share of struggles this year.  I’m sure there will be more to come, that’s just life as a blended family, but hopefully we are learning from our past and are able to approach it more tactfully and with more love.  The “bad”…….the kids are growing up…..(let me wipe my tears).  The year flew by!  My baby is 18 months old!!!  He’s a toddler!  He’s turning into a little boy!  I don’t like it.  My “bigs” are getting really big!  They are turning into amazing little people, and I have quite the love/hate relationship with that!  If we could figure out a way to just freeze time or even go back in time every now and then, that would be great!

The Good

Lots of good happened this year!  Andrew has fallen in love with lacrosse…and he’s good at it!  YAY!!!  Morgan has continued to develop her dancing skills AND softball!  She gave up a little dance this year because she made travel softball!  WHOA!  Are we ready for this?  I’m not sure…..bring it on 2017!  Julianne quite dance completely and found her place in the gym!  We are the proud owners of tumbling mats.  She doesn’t walk, she cartwheels everywhere she goes!  Creg’s girls continue to work on their dancing skills and excel in competitions.

My parents took Andrew (and Creg, Dax and me) to Hawaii. It was wonderful…and warm!  Can we go back?  To Stay?   I started to blog about it and then life and the holidays happened.  I still plan to blog about our trip.  Until then, you can find a few posts here and here and here.

Creg and I celebrated our first full year married.  We are continually working to strengthen and grow.  One way is with daily devotionals.  Dax had his first birthday.  I could go on and on……Overall, it was a pretty good year!  If I take the “ugly” out, it was actually an amazing year!

Coming up in 2017…..

I’ve got some pretty big goals for the year.  I don’t like making resolutions.  I feel like they just set you up for failure.  Goals are good!

Of course, I always say I’m going to be more health conscious.  I really am going to try this year…..the clock is ticking towards “middle aged”.  I do not want to look or feel like that!

I let my photography business take a backseat this year.  My family needed me this year.  It was actually kind of nice to not be so busy.  I plan to slowly make a come back!  Look for more details soon!

I have big plans for this blog!  Slow and steady.  I’m excited.  I’ve found an outlet where I can be myself and it’s great!  More coming!

As always, God first, family second, and then all the extra stuff.  =)

Happy New Year!!!!
